Carvalho Calero was a full member of the Royal Galician Academy, as well as the first professor of Linguistics and Galician Literature at the University of Santiago. He dedicated his life to dignify the Galician language and culture.

In memory of this illustrious person from Ferrol, there is a secondary school, a cultural center, a prestigious contest of narrative and linguistic-literary research.

This center can host meetings and events in the assembly hall upon request. It also has an exhibition hall and public library.
