It takes place on the Sunday closest to August 25th in the Brion’s Mounts.
It is a popular recreation of the battle that took place in 1800 between the troops stationed in Ferrol and invading English troops who landed on the beach of Doniños and were advancing dangerously towards Ferrol and the arsenals. The event happened in the context of the Anglo-Spanish War of 1796 -1808 initiated by Spain as an ally of France against England. The result was favorable for the local army despite the greater number of soldiers in the enemy’s army.
Today it is a festive event that includes a popular march through the scenes of the battle and a picnic for both sides.
