The rondallas are the protagonists on this day. They are music bands of string instruments whose members wear suits similar to those of tunos (former university choir members). The festival begins with an institutional act, where the participating rondallas are presented with their respective godmothers. At the end, the rondallas roam the streets praising the women in Ferrol, singing them under their balconies, finally joining in Amboaxe square where they give a show of waltzes and habaneras.
In recent years, the “bicos” have become typical of this festival. They are heart-shaped sweets filled with orange and sponge cake, covered with chocolate, which are given on this day by bar owners to their customers.
